How You Can Be One Of The 8% Who Achieve Their New Year Goals (Part 3)

"I want to exercise, but I don't want to give up my soft drinks."

"I want to lose weight, but I don't want to give up my late night suppers."

"I want to get fitter, but I don't want to give up my fast food."

I want, but I don't want. Statements that fitness instructors all over the world have heard time and time again by people who want their cake and eat it too. The fear of losing a joy, a comfort is a hinderance to many. Doesn't help when many fitness professionals and influencers out there show off their crazy diets and proclaim "this is what I eat to get fit!" When in truth, they have their pizzas and fried chickens and sodas not shown on their insta-feed. They call those cheat meals. Or so they say.

People are so afraid of what they will lose but don't see what they will gain. This is what fitness can bring you

- Reduce your risk of heart attacks

- manage your weight

- helps you sleep better

- puts you in a better mood

- great for mental health

- improve your self-esteem

- keeps your bones and muscles strong

- lower the risk of developing osteoporosis

and the list goes on.

So here's the thing. You don't have to give up any of your favourite foods permanently. It is not a death sentence. It is not forever. This is temporary. Heck, you many not even need to give up anything. What you do need to do though is to change your behaviours, increase movement and lower your intake on certain kinds of food.

If you drink soda at every meal, then maybe start but cutting down to having soda once a day. Drink something less sugary for the other meals. If you eat fast food at every meal, then maybe having it only once a day. Have a healthier choice meal maybe once a week. Then once you see progress in your weight, and you feel that something is working, then do more changes. Don't jump all in and think you'll be able to handle the cold turkey. 99% of us will swim back to the comforts of what got us here in the first place if we did that.

Focus on your why. Focus on what you will gain. I assure you that you won't be missing out on the latest burger trends or milkshakes or whatever rocks your boat. Because you won't have to give up on them permanently. Lose the FOMO and you'll lose the temptations.
